Jamie Headon’s 18.5 CrossFit Open Tips

Warm Up

  • Mobalize shoulders (Foam Roll & Light Barbell work)
  • Open up Front Rack & Overhead Press
  • Legs – Fast/light reps of Back/Front Squat

 

Workout

  • Pace it from the start (Be ready for HR to go up)
  • Thrusters (Fast short breaths)
  • Squat with the bar
  • If you need to rest, do it over head

 

C2B

  • Break up the reps
  • Keep your kip tight
  • Don’t force reps early
  • Keep getting back on the bar
  • Dont get chalk

Warm Up

  • Mobalize shoulders
  • Single arm kb press
  • Over head kb walks
  • HS holds

Deadlifts

  • Break and know your limits
  • Don’t go to failure
  • Save energy for HSPU
  • Try do min sets of 2 to use the bounce, don’t go to singles if possible

HSPU

  • Focus on an explosive kick out of the bottom
  • Break as needed don’t get no reps
  • Don’t pause for a long time at the bottom
  • Brace core at the bottom don’t arch
  • Kick straight up- don’t bring your heals against the wall

 

Heavy deadlifts- have a belt ready

Key Tips

  1. Good DU technique (Dont force it)
  2. Overhead Squat – Rest on back
  3. Back to Doubles – Move with Purpose
  4. Ring Muscle Up (Break early, dont risk failing reps, Keep moving).
  5. DB Snatch – Alternate in the air
  6. Bar Muscle Up – Jump into it
